{"id":783,"date":"2009-07-26T05:09:20","date_gmt":"2009-07-26T10:09:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/reddickfamily.org\/blog\/?p=783"},"modified":"2009-07-26T05:09:20","modified_gmt":"2009-07-26T10:09:20","slug":"spiders-and-such","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/reddickfamily.org\/web\/2009\/spiders-and-such\/","title":{"rendered":"Spiders and such"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hey everyone.\u00a0 Everything is fine here in South Carolina.\u00a0 It is hot, but these last few days have been California hot.\u00a0 Not too bad and not very humid.\u00a0 My girls are happy.\u00a0 Jenna loves spiders and bugs, Riley loves to read.\u00a0 She will be able to read on her own soon.<\/p>\n<p>We have a pet Black Widow (typical David) that we found in our sandbox.\u00a0 I just couldn&#8217;t kill it.\u00a0 I have always had a strange thing for dangerous spiders.\u00a0 Maybe compassion because everyone else just kills them and doesn&#8217;t see their value.\u00a0 Jenna and I created a habitat for it and we have had two eggs sacks (that I exterminate).\u00a0 I am holding the spider in prison as it awaits it ultimate death sentence.\u00a0 Jenna asked me why God made spiders that are dangerous.\u00a0 I told her that God made dangerous spiders so that we could learn wonder and curiosity.\u00a0 And in some unfortunate cases, great pain and suffering.\u00a0 A healthy black widow can live up to two years, and we keep &#8220;Charlotte&#8221; as Jenna named her well fed.\u00a0 ~Two years on Death Row maybe?<\/p>\n<p>We also have brown widows and red widows here.\u00a0 They are cool and dangerous, but not as dangerous as the black widow.\u00a0 We have brown recluses, but I have yet to find one (and I have a keen eye for finding spiders).<\/p>\n<p>We harvested 10 lbs of carrots today.\u00a0 Home grown are they best.\u00a0 They taste different!<\/p>\n<p>Well, take care and we&#8217;ll talk more soon.<\/p>\n<p>Love,<span> <\/span>Dave<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hey everyone.\u00a0 Everything is fine here in South Carolina.\u00a0 It is hot, but these last few days have been California hot.\u00a0 Not too bad and not very humid.\u00a0 My girls are happy.\u00a0 Jenna loves spiders and bugs, Riley loves to read.\u00a0 She will be able to read on her own soon.
